Dreams
It was again one of those rainy nights that gave Umi the chills. She went out of her luxurious room with her nightgown and furry blue slippers given by one of the villagers. She walked the halls of the palace looking at the magical art pieces that seemed to be so real.
"Made by the greatest artist ever," A soft voice echoed through the Dragon Tamer's ears. There, beneath the silver shadows, was a small purple head youth staring at her and to the artwork. "It was made precisely, recreating the scene, a little magic added made it look everlasting and existing. Can you believe that this masterpiece is a picture from a dream?"
The Dragon Tamer saw the enthusiasm of the sorcerer, which made her smile. Clef noticed the smile that reached Umi's eyes and somehow made it sparkle, making the Dragon Tamer more beautiful than she already was. He tried to hide his blush by continuing, "The art was made three weeks. It took the artist so long because it's sometimes hard to remember a dream. But what was so amazing, is that every night, the artist would have the same dream, same picture in his mind. His patience paid off, and look what it created."
"It's very beautiful," The Dragon Tamer silently remarked.
*But not as beautiful as you… no… that's too cheesy…* Clef said to himself watching Umi turn to his gaze asking, "You're still awake at this hour?"
The sorcerer nodded at Umi, "Yes, I've been researching at the library."
"What were you trying to find?" Umi moved to the next piece as the sorcerer explained, "You weren't the first Magic Knights, I'm trying to see if there were other Magic Knights before you that succeeded in coming back."
The Dragon Tamer suddenly stopped smiling, and looked at the sorcerer, "Have you had any luck?"
"Yes," Clef wondered at the back of his mind, *Why the sudden reaction? * "A previous scripture says that a lone knight did come to this planet before."
"Really," The Dragon Tamer's gaze was clouded in where the sorcerer stood. She looked upon the other artwork and asked, "Was the artist who created the one you've just told me, created this one?"
The sorcerer's heart was lightened yet confused why the Dragon Tamer refused to deal upon the previous subject. *Anyway, at least…* He explained the piece seeing that Umi, a person he has secretly been in love with, listened to him intently.
Umi took each word, phrase and sentence, she listened to every accent of his voice and every pause, and she does this as she etched those single details in her heart. She wanted to make this night as memorable as possible. She rarely has the opportunity to speak to the sorcerer since they seem to move in different ways during the day. The art pieces were indeed beautiful, *What would you expect from a castle? * Umi said to herself. But the stories behind it were quite interesting. She didn't think she would end up being really interested but it was a good conversation with Clef.
They took the tour until the end of the hallway, it led to a balcony giving soft breezes that played happily with Umi's hair. The sorcerer watched Umi brush her bangs and tuck a part of it to the side of her left ear. They reached the end of the Balcony, and saw the whole of Cephiro. The night was still boasting its shining stars as the night itself, showed it's ebony darkness with beauty. There was no sound but the whisper of the wind. The cool breeze made the Dragon Tamer hug herself as she looked at the vast sea. As the sorcerer looked at her eyes, it was as if, she was one with the sea, and they amused her in a way. The waves danced and the Dragon Tamer watched it like it was a musical play.
They probably stayed until the brink of dawn, not speaking in terms of voice but in terms of heart, they said words that were too loud to be said. At the dawn of day the Dragon Tamer said, "Three weeks…"
The sorcerer's eyes were confused as Umi explained, "Remember you said something about a dream repeating and repeating? Well, Fuu, Hikaru and I have been having the same dream over and over again these past nights. We will be leaving…" The Dragon Tamer sighed, "three weeks from now."
The sorcerer eyes seemed to have stopped and remained frozen, Umi saw Clef's expression sadden, "Clef, I'm sure of it," He didn't have to ask her for she seemed to have heard it come from inside of him, "As positive as how that painter created his masterpiece…"
The two figures remained silent as wild birds flew from the horizon to the tips of the castle walls. They watch the villagers awaken themselves and animals come out of their homes to start a new day.
